Course Description:

SIA Door Supervisor Training


The SIA Door Supervisor licence offers a way to a rewarding career. This course is unique as it qualifies an individual to work as a Door Supervisor and Security Guard. Once qualified there will be a steady stream of work available. The most common work will be at Nightclubs and entertainment venues.
In the UK, all security industry qualifications are specified by the SIA and offered through the following awarding bodies: City & Guilds, EDI, HABC,NOCN and Edexcel.


All of our highly experienced trainers are qualified in many aspects of SIA training. This mean when you attend one of our courses you will be sure to receive the very best of training.


The SIA Door Supervisor Training Course is split into 4 main modules which make up your 38 hours guided learning.

Unit 1 – Private Security Industry (10 Hours)

  • Procedures and Laws involved in the Private Security Industry
  • Health and Safety legislation in the workplace
  • Fire Safety & Fire awareness in the workplace
  • Knowledge and understanding of emergency procedures
  • Communication Skills and Customer Care
  • Private Security Industry


Unit 2 – Working as a Door Supervisor (10 Hours)

  • Understanding Behaviour Standards set by the Security Industry Authority (SIA)
  • Understanding civil and criminal law
  • Searching and the procedures involved
  • Procedures involved in arrests
  • Awareness and understanding of drug legislation and its relevance
  • Recording incidents and crime scene preservation
  • Responsibility in licensing law
  • Emergency situations and how to follow procedures


Unit 3 – Conflict Management (8 Hours)

  • Principles of conflict management and avoiding conflict
  • Recognising risk in conflict situations and how to defuse conflict
  • Communicating effectively and resolving emotive situations
  • Emergency Procedures for problem solving
  • Good practice in conflict managment


Unit 4 – Physical Intervention (10 Hours)

  • Introduction to physical skills
  • Understanding legal and professional implications of physical intervention
  • Reducing the risk of harm when physical intervention is put into practice
  • Protection from assault and escorting techniques
  • Understanding good practice of intervention


Exams – The structure of the qualification will comprise of 4 units:

1.    A 25 question multiple choice examination on Working in the Security Industry.  The examination will last for 40
minutes and candidates will be required to correctly answer 18 of the 25 questions.
2.    A 40 question multiple choice examination on Working as a Door Supervisor.  The examination will last for 60
minutes and candidates will be required to correctly answer 28 of the 40 questions.
3.    A 25 question multiple choice examination on Conflict Management for the Private Security Industry. The
examination will last for 40 minutes and candidates will be required to correctly answer 18 out of the 25 questions.
4.    Practical assessment in Physical Intervention skills for the Private Security Industry.

Results – Results will be advised by email/post usually within 10 working days of completing the course.

 

PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU COMPLETE THE SIA DOOR SUPERVISOR COURSE YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY EXEMPT FROM DOING THE SIA SECURITY GUARD COURSE. IT IS THE OVERRIDING QUALIFICATION
