City & Guilds 2357 NVQ Level 3

Latest Electrical NVQ

Course Introduction

The City & Guilds NVQ will provide you with all the skills and information you require to become a formally qualified electrician.  This is the most highly regarded qualification within the industry. It is proof that the electrician is at the top of their game and qualified in all aspects.

The course includes practical and theory based learning. Theory will be taught in the classroom whilst practical training is undertaken in our top of the range workshops. The complete 2357 NVQ has been split into three parts:

1.    Part one includes 9 units, practical and theory based
2.    Part two consists of 7 units which are competed in a working environment
3.    Part three is a performance unit which is taken at a learning venue

Part one of the NVQ can be completed if you do not currently work in the industry. You will leave being fully qualified and able to gain employment as an electrician or even decide to start your own business.  Topics and skills you’ll learn include:

•    Managing the job
•    Fundamental electrical principles
•    Installation practice
•    Intermediate electrical principles
•    Installation design
•    Advance electrical principles
•    Inspection, testing and fault finding

If you move on to unit two you will need to be employed or be able to be supervised as you will be assessed in a work environment. You will be visited by an inspector who will come into your workplace and access your process at least three or four times. After completing unit two you can then sign up for the third and final unit which is to complete an assessment over three days.

There is no need to complete units two or three to become qualified; however it’s an excellent opportunity to gain the complete City & Guilds Diploma. You have the choice to continue the second and third units at a later date if you prefer, or not at all, the choice is yours.

Who is the Course Aimed Towards?

You do not need to have any formal qualifications or previous experience in electrical science.  You will learn everything you need to become an electrician on the first unit if the course.  Male and female applicants are welcome between the ages of 16 and 60.

Gain a Recognised Qualification

The awarding body of the NVQ Diploma is the City & Guilds. You will gain a formal qualification which is recognised throughout the industry, and further career choices will be opened to you.  Use the qualification to become an employee or to start your own business offering electrician services.

Course Duration

The length of the course varies, depending on if and how you decide to complete the full diploma, but it’s possible to complete within 6 months.  Part one of 2357 is held over 16 weeks, often running two weeks on with two weeks off.

Assessment and Success

You will be assessed throughout the complete duration of the course.  When you complete unit one you will be awarded with 9 City & Guild Certificates of Credit.  If you go on to complete unit two and three you will then be awarded with the complete Diploma Certificate from the City & Guilds.
